Like a sodden sponge
Soaking up the sense of self
I squeeze out the water
To make the sponge softer
Â
Like a thick dark room
Steals the light
I thrown open the curtains
And let the sunshine in
Â
Like hot air on a winter’s day
Confidence evaporates
Until the snowdrops appear in Spring
And brings a new awakening
Â
But unlike the seasons
I am not changing
As this was always
Who I was meant to be.
