There is a bit of irritating noise at the moment about who should be the leader of a political party representing England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. It's bolstered my motivation for this journal entry as I ask myself, "would emotionally or financially intelligent nations need politicians or out and out 'leaders'?"
Short answer - I don't think it would.
Longer answer - the system of politics is integral to and necessary to facilitate the evil financial system that exists today.
Politics is highly emotionally unintelligent
Here are three definitions of Emotional Intelligence:
"the ability to manage both your own emotions and understand the emotions of people around you. There are five key elements to EI: self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy, and social skills." Mental Health America
"...a person's ability to manage their feelings so that those feelings are expressed appropriately and effectively." Professor Daniel Goleman
In terms of successful leadership, Emotional Intelligence is viewed as being more important than IQ. According to this Forbes Magazine article,
"Leaders are responsible for setting the tone of an organization. That's why emotional intelligence is as important a skill set as communication and technical skills are. In today’s complex, competitive world, for a business to survive, a leader must be emotionally intelligent in order to ensure that the organization survives in the environment.
Emotional intelligence in leadership can be beneficial in that it can help leaders:
• Create a positive work culture within the organization that will increase efficiency and productivity
• Encourage growth, innovation and creativity in the organization
• Help everyone in the organization put their best foot forward
• Make the right decisions in the face of challenges
• Build a strong bond between the leader and team members"
Let's substitute all organisation/business related terminology for nation...organisnation? Ok no, let's just leave it at nation...
"Leaders are responsible for setting the tone of an nation. That's why emotional intelligence is as important a skill set as communication and technical skills are. In today’s complex, competitive world, for a nation to survive, a leader must be emotionally intelligent in order to ensure that the nation survives in the environment.
Emotional intelligence in leadership can be beneficial in that it can help leaders:
• Create a positive national culture within the nation that will increase efficiency and productivity
• Encourage growth, innovation and creativity in the nation
• Help everyone in the nation put their best foot forward
• Make the right decisions in the face of challenges
• Build a strong bond between the leader and nation"
When I look at politicians and the political landscape all I see is the polar opposite of Emotional Intelligence being applied to a nation: Power struggles, ego, inability to compromise, creating unsafe environments, lies, facilitate the murder of innocent people, identity politics over suitability to do a job, low empathy, inconsiderate, argue and talk over each other, get into debt to pay for things they don't need, manipulation and control, no moral compass, zero ethics, racketeering, psychological abuse, financial abuse, physical abuse, and I probably could go on...
Politics is integral to the facilitation of the current toxic financial system
Money isn't everything, but trying telling that to those living in poverty, or anyone who is struggling at the hands of the toxic, evil financial system we have today.
The introduction of the global fiat status was triggered by a politician - President Richard Nixon, in August 1971.
The obliteration of the globally revered Scottish Banking System could be related back to the catalyst of the failed Darien Scheme. That attempt to establish a trade route via the Panama Canal was instigated by William Paterson, a Scottish financier and entrepreneur, who is best known as one of the founders of the Bank of England. The Darien Scheme was orchestrated to establish Scotland as a major player in global trade. Paterson lobbied the Scottish Parliament and influential figures to support his plan - influencing politicians...as a banker. Paterson was the scheme’s most prominent advocate, his ideas were met with skepticism by some, including England, which saw the plan as a threat to its own imperial ambitions. The Darien Scheme and the subsequent 'Union' (colonisation) of Scotland is something I find fascinating and I will be dedicating more time to exploring that later!
It is politicians who uphold the financial system by there mere presence in the system - as they spend and fund and 'budget' every penny that's created in the BoE. It is there job to transfer the proceeds from the loans that the BoE creates and pass the debt to ordinary people. It is their job to do what the IMF and Bank of International Settlements want. If it was a drug cartel or the Mafia they would be the 'runners' or the 'soldiers' or whatever you want to call them. The system is akin to a money laundering racket - they have a licence to print and they spend it on what they want to - which isn't helpful or noble pursuits. Pillaging nations of their resources, murdering and killing people in wars, displacing people to use and abuse as cheap labour in service-based economies.
It really is a never-ending cycle of low EQ/EI and debased Financial Intelligence and it's because we have accepted that the political system and financial system is what runs our nations.
To peace and prosperity
